On November 21, 2024, CRA announced a “pause” on GST/HST on select items from December 14, 2024 through February 15, 2024 to help make the holidays more affordable. Items include all groceries including prepared meals, restaurant meals, liquor, children’s clothing, Christmas trees, gaming console systems, puzzles, books, etc.

Clients with businesses that distribute any of the items on the list should correctly remove the GST/HST at the point of sale, for the stipulated period.
